The SCALIBUR pilot city of Kozani is ramping up its efforts to create a circular economy for biowaste.

The City already runs a pilot project to collect waste in the neighbourhoods of Kozani. Last year this pilot was expanded by delivering approximately 600 brown bins to households.

The latest initiative, a collaboration between CluBE Cluster of Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia, the regional waste management company DIADYMA, and the City of Kozani, focuses on separately collecting waste from the city’s open food markets.

A number of engagement actions have taken place to raise awareness of waste sorting among the stall owners, and to distribute specific bags for collecting waste food.
